Walibi Holland is one of the largest amusement parks in the Netherlands and has been using Bizplay for over seven years. We spoke with Scott Bravenboer (Events & Entertainment associate) and Charles Dumay (systems and networking engineer) about their experiences.
What do you use Bizplay for?
We use Bizplay for:
- Sharing information during events, such as signage to help visitors find special attractions.
- Displaying live queue times for all rides.
- Digital menu boards in restaurants.
- Advertising in the park.
- Internal communication, like updates in the staff canteen and monitoring technical service requests.

How do you manage the live queue times?
We use Bizplay Pro's feature to create a custom app. Together with Bizplay, we developed an app that pulls real-time queue times from our system and displays them on screens. It works brilliantly! For example, we show the queue times prominently on the large LED screen in the main square in front of the Ferris wheel.
How does it work in your restaurants?
Before, we used plastic boards to display menus and prices. We've replaced all of those with screens, so now all our menu communication is digital through digital signage. It’s super convenient—you can adjust prices instantly. If something is out of stock, it’s removed from the menu immediately. And for events like Halloween Fright Nights, we can theme the menus to match the event style directly.
How do you manage content updates?
We take full advantage of the ability to set permissions for each user to control specific content. This way, one or two people per department can adjust the content blocks assigned to them. It’s really easy to teach people how Bizplay works. While we sometimes need to explain concepts like a page, playlist, or channel, users quickly get the hang of creating and filling pages and adding animations. It couldn’t be simpler!
Central managers have access to all content and can assist or make edits when necessary.
Which Bizplay features do you use most?
Marketing provides the primary content. During busy periods, this can be a full image with text that we place directly on a page. More often, they provide individual components that we use to assemble pages, add text, and animate elements. It’s a huge plus that we’ve been able to upload our own font into Bizplay.
For menu communication, we often include brand-specific videos, like those from Coca-Cola, provided by suppliers. We upload these to Bizplay and add them to our pages.
I also have a folder with pages I can instantly drag into a playlist for specific situations or events, like very warm weather.
What do you like most about Bizplay?
Aside from how easy the system is to use, we really appreciate how quickly you respond to questions or issues and come up with solutions.
Our technical team also loves how simple it is to set up Bizplay on a playback device—it’s done in no time. Replacing a device is just as quick and straightforward.
We also like that playback devices can be grouped by zone, giving us a clear overview.
Finally, the preview option for a channel is invaluable—it lets you see at a glance whether the content will display as expected.
Any tips for using narrowcasting?
Moving images, like videos or animations, grab more attention. For example, we used to have static signs at one of our roller coasters explaining how to close the special safety harness. No one paid attention to those. We replaced them with a screen playing a video, and now people actually watch it.
I’d also suggest trusting the system! 😄 Initially, I thought it would be better to manually go live with content when it was supposed to show, as I wasn’t 100% sure Bizplay’s scheduling would work perfectly. But after trying it, I realized my doubts were unnecessary—the scheduling feature works flawlessly, even down to the second. Now, we rely on it completely.
Which platform do you use for playback?
Currently, all our playback devices run on Windows. We standardized on that after finding it more reliable in the long term compared to Android boxes, which we used in the past. With Windows devices, everything runs smoothly and consistently.
Conclusion
We’re really happy with Bizplay. It’s easy and reliable for everyone to use. Over the years, we’ve expanded Bizplay’s use across the park because it allows us to communicate effectively and tailor messages to specific locations and audiences.
